Science

Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas – Madame Curie.

Vision

Across the school at Rowlands Castle St John's, our intent is to support children to become engaged and active learners.  Science is all around us and our children today are the world’s future engineers, scientists and critical thinkers.  Children are growing up in a world that requires scientific literacy and critical thinking skills and it is our intention to inspire and develop these at Rowlands Castle St John's.  We will implement this by giving children a science curriculum which enables them to explore and discover the world around them, so that they have a deeper understanding of the world we live in. We give children a practical, hands-on investigative approach to learning, where they build the confidence to ask important questions and develop scientific enquiry. The impact is that children leave our school confident scientists with a solid scientific skillset and knowledge base that supports them in their future learning and in the wider world.

Through our Christian Values of Courage, Creativity and Respect, we will create a nurturing environment which fosters curiosity and an achievement culture for all. We will pursue high expectations in both pupils’ learning and their personal development within our supportive and friendly environment with a strong community ethos. Through an adaptive and child-centred curriculum, we will meet the needs of each individual to prepare them for their future.
