Reservoir Ambassadors
Portsmouth Water and Southern Water are building a new reservoir in Havant Thicket due for completion in Spring 2031. This reservoir, along with many others around the country, is being built to help tackle the country’s issue of a lack of clean, fresh water.
As such, those involved with designing and building the reservoir are working alongside schools to help develop an understanding about why the reservoir is important, the impact the reservoir will have on the local community and how those who visit can enjoy this new space. Local schools are in the process or have recently completed the process of finding ‘Reservoir Ambassadors’ to help in this project.
Those chosen will get to visit the site every so often to receive updates on what has changed, and to participate in scientific or geographical workshops to help develop their understanding. They will also deliver news back to the school about the ongoing development.
Our Reservoir Ambassadors
Our children worked hard on a competition to apply for the role of Reservoir Ambassador. The theme for the competition was: Why does water matter?
